12 Powerful Mindset Lessons from 3 Titans of Fitness
Sparks flew when these three fitness legends shared their wisdom on everything fitness and bodybuilding.

Sparks were flying when these 3 high-achievers who live and breathe fitness got together to discuss the craft.
Recently, Phil Heath (7x Mr. Olympia) and his trainer Frank Sepe did an interview with Mike O’Hearn (4x Mr. Natural Universe) on The Mike O’Hearn Show and they unleashed bodybuilding and fitness wisdom.
Even if you could care less about bodybuilding there are some gems for leveling-up your training and mindset towards fitness.
Here are a few nuggets from the interview:
“Reduce all of the emotions – and just stick to the game plan”
“If you are at peace with yourself you can deal with the world.”
Before social media, bodybuilders wouldn’t know what kind of shape his or her competitors were in until show day.
“[In bodybuilding] you start working on your initial strengths whether it be chest or biceps and then after a while you see how imbalanced you are and then you start doing legs, calves, etc.”
“Until the point where you start competing you really don’t know how far your body can go”
“They don’t know the history [of the sport]”
“I instantly look past the physiques to the mindsets… It’s the mindset that really separates the individual, not the body.”
“The mindset for this world is seeming to always go to the negative instead of ‘I’m going to push this envelope and I’m gonna see what’s possible.’”
“Your body is not static, it’s very dynamic”
“If something is not working, change it. Or if something’s working it may not work again so change it again.”
“You micro-saw yourself and continue to change to be a multi-champion”
“Professionals have a routine”
Interestingly, Heath shared that after getting ready for the day and having a morning protein shake, he cracks open a book and read 20-30 pages of a book that addresses a current struggle.
Whether you are wanting to lose weight, bulk up, expand your leadership skills or grow your business - this is invaluable advice.
Many people who are in the habit of learning or reading can get in a rut of learning for entertainment, and there’s nothing wrong with that. There’s a time and place for it.
But it’s a night and day difference to learn for progress.
And this little habit of channeling your education towards your ‘chokehold’ can be one of the most powerful way to create progress. It can help you focus and start making measurable progress in an area that you’ve struggled with for months… years… or even decades.
